Chiropractic is a drug free, hands on approach to health care that incorporates spinal manipulation, nutrition, & other modalities. The most common therapeutic procedure used is spinal manipulation, also known as an adjustment. An adjustment is used to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile as a result of tissue injury, caused by a single traumatic event or repetitive stresses. Tissues that are injured go through physical and chemical changes that can lead to inflammation, pain, and lessened function. Adjustments help to restore mobility, relieve pain and muscle tension, and allow tissues to heal.

Acupuncture

At Acacia Chiropractic & Acupuncture, we provide acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture is a treatment technique that uses very fine needles inserted into specific points in the body for therapeutic purposes.

Animal Chiropractic

Animal Chiropractic is also known as Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy and is the treatment of ailments that involve the bones, joints, and nervous system of the body. Spinal Manipulation is often used to "make us feel better", but it also very important in keeping our nervous system healthy. All the joints in the body (both human and animal) have receptors in them called proprioceptors which giver very important information to the brain about the body's balance and movement. If our spinal joints are not moving or functioning properly, they will not stimulate these proprioceptors and the information sent to the brain and nervous system is reduced. Each of these proprioceptors in the body connects with hundreds of other nerves, so reduction of the functioning of one area can affect many other areas.

Everything in the body is controlled by the spinal cord and nervous system. Due to this fact, many other body functions can be affected by a nervous system that isn't functioning to its capacity.

A properly trained individual can determine if the spinal joint is not moving properly via a thorough physical exam, neurological exam, stance and gait analysis, and motion palpation. An adjustment can then be given if determined necessary. The adjustment is a very specific, controlled force of low amplitude and high velocity that is delivered in a specific direction through a joint plane to restore that joint to normal function.
